The belief that, God the creator of all exists implies that God possesses consciousness along with an ability to act purposefully. Without such attributes the logical conclusion is that consciousness and purposeful action arose as a consequence of natural laws, such as the law of cause and effect, that determine the way that the universe came to be and the way it operates. It is through observing and understanding the natural laws governing the universe we discover that they are responsible for its existence, as well as the existence of chickens, eggs, and ourselves and that the existence of God is not rationally justifiable.
Consciousness, the faculty of awareness, presupposes something to be conscious of and something to be conscious with. Because of this inescapable prior requirement the only reasonable assertion is that existence (not consciousness) is the primary that allows for the possibility of the existence of consciousness. Consciousness arose as a product of existence. God is a creation of the imagination of a conscious mind, (our own) and not the creator of existence, consciousness, nor the ability to reason which disproves his existence.
The chicken and the egg are off the hook. Humanity alone is the instigator of religion and the creator of the belief in the existence of God.
