I would be grateful if someone who did this puzzle can explain what the answers have to do with cloth hats (as mentioned in the preamble). Obviously I'm missing something here.

The answers to the clues concerned were names of reptiles. Rep = cloth, tiles = hats. To be honest, I found this a bit corny.

It took me a long time to work this out - I had found crocodile and losts of lizards. Found the lizard clues unsatisfactory so asumed this was the theme, and only after Kayakmina saying somthing about reptiles did it sink in. Having realized this it did not help me finish it, my husband got the last two and they were not part of the theme.

I'm not a fan of themed puzzles.

My mistake was to assume that the instructions would be relatively straightforward - I should know better with Araucaria!
