Change of address on driving licence

I have an old paper driving licence and never changed the address from my parents house when I moved out in 2000. They are still there and I would get any DVLA correspondence if it was sent to this address.

If I change my address now will DVLA ask when I moved away from the original address on the licence? It does say that they can fine you 1000 for not having changed the address. Do you know of anyone who has been fined for this offence? I understand that they might fine you if it was clear you haven't changed it to avoid fines etc but this is not the case here.

i know 2 people that have been fined for incorrect address on their licence.

I must admit i left mine about 6 months, before advising the DVLA, and they never blinked an eye lid.

Just have to be careful if your stopped by the police, as they may get the hump and use it as an excuse to give you a tellin off too.

Just get it changed, honesty is the best policy.
i changed mine after 5 years and 2 moves and they never said a word, they dont ask when you moved

"spaced" do you know how much your friends were fined and the circumstances?
You aint going to get fined lol

Just send it off
I left it nearly seven years before I notified a change of address, and sent off a fee (19 I think , because I wanted a photo licence ) . A week or so later i received my new licence and my 19 cheque returned as you don't have to pay for a change of address. So I ended up getting a new photo licence without paying the fee.
Get the form from the PO send it off......AND STOP WORRYING.
you can do it all online at www.directgov.org/motoring
EIMB, all I know is that it was down to the police being "by the book" on both occassions, and not down to the DVLA.

As I said, I was never asked why I left it 6 months, so dont worry, just get it changed for peace of mind
