my auntie has passed peacefully

it is amazing how her last few weeks were so peaceful and pain free, i am absolutely so full of admiration for the hospice and the care staff, my auntie had 93 years on this earth, she worked from the age of 13 and never stopped being busy, It is sad , but we have been expecting this for the last 8 weeks, it is also a glad feeling that she did not suffer the great pain many cancer sufferers endure. It is the end of a generation for our family and now I have become the older generation!!!!!!!!!!! I hope I have my auntie's good luck, Thanks for everyones's thoughts and recent prayers. Dotty

my father passed away from prostate cancer christmas eve 2005, he had been diagnosed 6 years before so we knew it was coming - he was only bed-ridden in the last few days

we, like yourselves can count our blessings that the final years were not as bad as they could have been.

So sorry to hear of your loss,dot. At least you know that your auntie was loved by many and had a long productive life. I work in a care home(cook not carer) and have become aware that too many elderly die alone with no close family. I find that so shocking. Your auntie was one of the lucky ones xx

Good evening Dot. Please accept my condolences. Whilst I know you are sad at her passing, it is certainly appropriate to celebrate such a full and vibrant life. These are times to reflect on those pleasant memories and recognising that although in time she may pass from the forefront of your mind, she will always live on within your heart.

For me, the celebration of a passing at this age is precisely that - a celebration. And it serves as a reminder of the renewal of life. It brings to mind my friend Sarah:

Your aunt�s passing also reminds me of a comment my son made recently. It had been a challenging day. That evening I received a call regarding the death of an elderly gentleman. My son commented to me �Daddy, at least it was a good death, rather than a bad one.� I�ll share my diary notes about that as well.

Dot, sorry I've only just seen your post. So sad to hear of your loss, but it's good to know that your aunt died peacefully, in the wonderful care of the hospice. 93 is a good innings - if I last that long, I'll have no complaints!
