I am not old enough to have lost someone in the Great War - although I know my Great Great Uncle died at the battle of Ypres at the age of 18. My grandad, is still alive and kicking at the age of 84. He fought in WW2, in particular he was at Anzio and then in Palestine as part of the Forgotten Army. Despite the fact he is arguably one of the toughest men I know (and trust me, in my line of work, I see some toughies) - he cannot speak of the horrors which he saw in the few bleak years in which he served. Over 60 years later, what he lived through haunts him. And such conflict still goes on today. I am lucky, my grandad lived. So many others didnt though.
