To the few grumpy people

Not wishing to be nasty but why, if people asking for help when the question has already been answered irritates you so much, don't you just ignore it. Surely typing a snappy reply takes as much effort as simply answering the question.
And to the pleasant and helpful people...thank you very much for your kindness.

Also, some people are criticised for answering without acknowledging an earlier answer. I always search before asking for help but are you really asking me to search before answering! Because someone asked before and was answered does not mean that I "stole" the answer - I will have got it by myself and am not suggesting that I am the only solver to do so.
Grumps need to get a life!

So what you are actually saying is that it is wrong to ask people to check to see if an answer has already been given to their question, even when this is requested when you raise a question anyway? Hmmmm call me grumpy but it is just good manners to spend a few minutes checking back through a few pages (especially here in Q & P) to make sure your question has not been asked and answered before.
catron, I'm not exactly saying that it's wrong to ask people to look before they post a question to see if it has already been asked, it's just that a few AB members seem to lie in wait for someone to slip up and duplicate a question and then they pounce and read them the riot act, making themselves sound ever so slightly pompous. I just think that they might as well use their fingers to type the answer to the question rather than to type, for example, "this question has already been answered previously" and STILL not supply the answer.
Having said all that I can also see the other side of it and am sure that an odd few people ARE too lazy to search first, some are even too lazy to thank the person who supplies the answer, which to me is a worse crime than duplicating a post.
