What is with all these links?

I've noticed over the last couple of days that there seems to be a link attached to certain words such as...

• 'health'& lt; /LI>
• 'travel'
• 'sexually'
• 'bedroom'

If you click on the link it takes you to 'searchmiracle.com' which then creates loads of annoying pop ups.

Is this a new feature, (if so why cos it's a pain,) or is it my computer?

Links have been created just typing the examples, so what's up, or did I miss something new?

I hadn't noticed that myself. Although the above ones look like links they don't act like them on my computer. I don't know if this is the same for everyone else.

 

Perhaps it's just part of the adverts AB puts out to make this a free site.

Just seen a post with 5 kisses on the bottom and the link created is 'triple' x!!

If it is AB's choice of advertising I don't think much of it especially in view of the 'decency' editing. That would be creating a double standard wouldn't you say. 

 

AB Editor...no offence intended towards you personally at all, you're doing a great job, just pointing out the 'auto link' creations!!

I have to agree lindy loo, adding advertising to the site is one thing and can be understood, but adding advertising to our questions and answers is down right rude.

lindy loo - I havn't noticed anything like that - are you getting this on other websites as well? Because it sounds to me like you might have some rogue software installed on your pc that is doing this to your browser. I recommend you download and run Ad-aware or some similar adware/spyware detector and see if it makes a difference.

I agree with Shipstabber - this happened to me on another site? Has your PC started to slow down too?  Some nasty trojan spyware had found its way onto my PC and was working through the browser.  PestPatrol is another good one for checking for rogue software and showing you how to get rid of it.

Lindy - it isn't happening on my computer, so I would think Shipstabber's answer is correct.

Step 1- Identify and dispose of the rouge software.

Step 2- Identify who's been playing with my computer!

Step 3 - Dispose of them to prevent further problems!!

Yes FP definitly RED, plus the removal tools tell you what it is and where it is, but will only rid if it if you have one of those horrid bits of plastic!!! Oh well, failing all else it's a system revamp...*fume, curse, swear!!*

A quick update...my techie son came to the rescue.. downloaded Ad-Aware a totally free utility and hey presto 115 dodgy files found and destroyed!!!  Now we're back to normal...Yipee!!

My apologies AB for making the suggestion that it may be something to do with you. By the way lindy loo did your son download Ad-aware SE? I upgraded to this new version on Saturday and it found problems that the old Ad-aware v6.0 missed. It's quicker too.
