Mail on Sunday Treasure Hunt

Enjoyed the hunt with my 12 yr old daughter over the last couple of weeks, and we think we have got the right answer. However when we phone in our answer I cannot understand what the person on the phone is asking for after the part where I use my keypad to inform how many letters are in our answer. I cannot make head nor tail of the reference to Alexander Graham Bell and the first and last letters of the final location. I have now phoned 3 times but on each occassion I am no wiser than the last what information is being asked of me? Anyone else having this problem, IS IT INTENTIONAL TO MAKE MONEY? I'M BEGINING TO WONDER.

I agree - it is overly complex with a combination of voice answers and keypad presses required and asking for unexpected items. The actual answer requires you to convert the first and last letters of the location to keypad buttons and you don't get a lot of time to do it - I missed the first one completely and had to resubmit. I;ve probably spent �150,000 on it already

You are 'spot-on', overly complex - certainly they want to generate as much money possible, they will more than acrue their costs and the prize money on offer - through tele. calls or should that be tele cons. Ha.

Perhaps we can find out through the disclosure of information legislation.

Likewise, Orly! I had to resubmit my entry too!!
I fumbled as well when I tried to tap in the first and last letter of the answer.I bet many people failed on their first entry.
But, I'm quite confident that my answer is correct!!
The trickiest of the puzzles I found were Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and Winston Churchill.Although,I've got a book on quotations which helped me solve the Churchill puzzle.

Yes - agree. Did anyone else find errors in the keys on the 'Enigma Machine'? eg. Keys I & A BOTH produced H on the answer keyboard? & the question was confusing because they asked for the CODE letters (ie. the 3 missng from the tape), but the correct answer was the 3 letters missing from the Churchill quote??!!

Agree with the comments made. The request for number of letters in final clue was too swift to answer and so I had to redial.
Some of the answers did not seem correct when they appeared so needed checking via the map and an atlas.
Good point about the raising of cash from the phone in. Is it possible to check the total funds accrued?

I don't know what everyone is talking about. I found the messages quite clear and found it east to submit my answers.

Being a little hard of hearing, weeeell ok, rather deaf, I found it difficult to follow the instruction for Graham Bell until the third 'phone call. Must say the lady does gabble on a bit too quickly for me. Just hope I eventuall heard correectly and gave the right answer!
