My son spilled juice on my mobile phone

Hi, has anyone else ever got their mobile wet and did you manage to make it work again afterwards?

My 10 month old son just spilled his juice on my phone and now it is unresponsive and just says 'Memory card removed'

I took out the sim card and the battery and dried them with a cloth and have just left it on one side to see if it will work again when the pieces have dried out?

What do you think? Thanks in advance for any advice on this :)

i dropped my phone in the bath once and after a few days it did work but wasn't brilliant i might think about getting a new one

ive dropped mine in a galss of water twice and it still worked fine after a day of drying out. When i dropped it into a portaloo i did just salvage the sim and bin the phone though lol

juice may be hard to dry out without leaving it very sticky though

I dropped one in a mug of coffee once. I took out the SIM and battery and ran it under a warm tap to remove any coffee. After two days in a warm place to dry out it was fine. It's not water that wrecks electronincs, it's the acidic or conductive substances dissolved in drinks! Good luck.

One of the best ways of reviving a dead phone that has been in the drink is Methylated Spirit. Ideally, if you are handy, strip the phone down to the circuit board and give it a good bath in Meths. Gently use a soft toothbrush to scrub the board clean - be very gentle as there are tiny components on there.

Do not immerse the display into the meths, it will probably fill up and be difficult to empty!

I droppped mine in a glass of wine and unfortunately it never recovered. I took it to a repair shop who charged �35 if they fixed it and nothing if they couldn't. Might be worth trying if you can't dry it out yourself.

Orange juice is acidic and therefore corrosive. It would be better to flush out the phone with running clean water or as suggested methylated spirits. Be careful not to fill the screen up. The acidic quality will damage the circuit board and components over time, even if it does work. There are no guarantees that it will come back to life, but if it does. Leaving acidic orange juice residue in there will surely kill it again.

I dropped mine in the loo, twice! It fell out of my back pocket

I pulled it apart as in I took the front and back and numbers off and then put it in the airing cupboard for a few days and it was as right as rain afterwards

I dropped my phone in a sink and it wouldn't come on. Popped it in a bakery oven that was cooling down for around an hour. It was pretty cool...Phone switched on shortly afterwards. No problems following that.

Thanks everyone. Well I took your advice and sponged it with plain water to get rid of the orange juice (I didn't quite have the nerve to immerse it) and let it dry. It was a bit 'dodgy' for a day but now seems to be working perfectly again.

I put mine through the washing machine recently.The sim was fine but the phone is no more.
