I've still got the teddy thatI got for my first birthday. Stuffed with straw and a bandage on one foot ( a puppy got it as a comforter along with a ticking clock under a cushion when it was 6 weeks old and chewed it a bit!).

And a tiny china leprechaun my Dad brought from Ireland (where else, you say!) Still wrapped up in cotton wool in its box.
Question Author
Hello tara , I now have a cute image in my head of a little puppy nibbling on the foot of a startled looking little teddy as they both lie in the dog basket listening to the clock ticking ...lol...Your leprechaun sounds very special and I hope it guides you through life . :-) x
Thank you bigmamma.

You won't believe this, but my Mum bought a pair of second hand roller skates & my little sister & me had one each! We used to hold hands & glide along the pavement together - one leg pushing & the other rolling!

It really makes me chuckle when I think about it now, but we had a really happy childhood! -xx-

Awww smudge honey , I can just see you two happily skating along unsteadily , holding hands , what a lovely scene :-) xxx
Hi BM, hope you are well.

I have a pink teddy called Dozy that my aunty bought me when I went into hospital at 18months old, although he is naked now as I have lost his pyjamas and he doesn't sing anymore - he still has his hat though. The hospital staff gave him his own identification wrist band too and my mum still has that.

I also have Benji who I sleep with every night (he's so damn comfy) who is a one eared smelly dog pyjama case with a hole in his neck and no mouth :-( I got Benji when I was 5.

A few weeks ago my mum gave me the Christening gown that she (age 48), my aunt (aged 51) and I wore at our Chistenings (25) and the goose feather cloak that I wore. If I have a little girl in April then I hope to Christen her in it too. It's so tiny!
Question Author
Dozy has been through things with you natalie , I love how they get their own ID band and plasters etc.. Benji sounds adorably cuddly .
Yes , I bet your mums christening gown seems tiny. As I said earlier , I have the gown I was christened in and actually all my sisters before me , and even my 2 brothers .
;-) xx
Will our children look back on their toys with so much fondness or do they just get too much these days? I am not complaining though I love 'spoiling' my daughter with all the gorgeous things that are in the shops and I am sure if toys were so readily available and affordable as today my mother would have done the same, but I do believe because we didnt have so many toys that we cherished them that little bit more. I can remember all of my toys and playing with each one for hours.
i still have a monkey that i my older brother brought me when i was about 4 years old ...i use to hang it on the washing line it was from Woolworth's ..it had hard plastic hands .....guess what big i chewed one of its hands off
I still have a doll i got for my 1st birthday.
Question Author
Yes toby , I hope the children of today will be chatting about their childhood keepsakes with as much fondness as us in years to come. :-)xx
Awww sleepy , is that when your chewing first started then ? :-) xxx
Hi jodie , can you see yourself keeping your doll for years like mine ? :-) xx
not sure big lol he has a stitched up hole where his hand use to be ..
Question Author
Mmm , yes sleepy , I would leave him with the hole sewn up , unless you can get a prosthesis for him , a hook would make him look too scary :-o) xxx
