It certainly looks like a yucca and if so it definitely should not shed its leaves. They dont look particularly yellow from the picture you have posted so it doesn't look as if it has been over-watered. Have you moved it recently? If so it just might not like its new location. If it was flourishing before, move it back to where it was. Bear in mind It wont like being in a draught either! If it continues to lose its leaves, there is nothing you can do - get rid and get a new one taking care where you place it. Good luck from Ladywoman!
Oh! Poor pathetic plant! Looks like a Yukka, thats been starved of light and maybe overwatered. It likes a light position and allow the compost to semi dry out defore watering. Move to a suitable position and see how it responds over a few months ....... if you can stand looking at it for that long!
As well as the above the pot looks a bit too large for the plant to me, have you recently repotted it? This could mean it's been too wet for too long.
There's also a chance that some bug has got into the compost & the larvae have been chomping the roots.
Maybe you could carefully tap it out of it's pot...if the soil falls away put it into fresh compost in a slightly smaller pot & hope for the best!
