PS3 advice...help!!

Hi all, I'm buying Mr Schlomo a ps3 for xmas but am also wanting to get a good shoot em up game for it-think house of the dead3-any suggestions on a game like that for the PS3? I would prefer to use a gun on it too...not that i have violent tendencies or anything (cof)
Any advice would be gratefully received as we previously had an xbox and had some 'quality' time together shooting stuff

what tv do you have ? if its lcd or plasma be careful with a light gun as some(maybe all?) are not compatible.
