What protection do tenants have if a racist moved in next door?

I went to court regarding our next dooor neighbours (father who does not live there) as I was racially harrassed by him. In the end the court gave him a
12 month Conditional Discharge.
To my dismay I have recently found out that the father is doing a 'housing exchange' with our neighbour. So basically the racist who was charged will end up being my new neighbour!
How can I live like this now, after what I went through with him? Is there a law against this type of thing?
Do I have any rights as a tenant? I know I will be intimidated by him again....please any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

have you spoken to the council or housing association that own the properties?

It may not be in their best interests to allow the swap to take place and its their decision.

Other than that i cant see what else you can do other than keep clear of the guy and call the authourities should anything occur. Of course you could also put in for a transfer yourself

Thanks for your replys so far. I have been in contact with the (housing association) today and the housing officer could only confirm that there was an 'exchange in process' but could not tell me who it was as he said he would be breaching confidentiality etc. He was so unhelpful!

I reminded him what I had been through regarding the courts with this racist but yet he still said he could not tell me anything! Surely this can't be right! I'm so upset & angry!

we should of let hitler rule then there would be no racist only happy people who belong in this country abolish the the dole and then see people only come here to claim freebies which us tax payer have to fork out go back home leave us alone churchhill would not allow it so get lost

i hope your neighbour keeps you awake all night then maybe you will move overseas you lot make me sick come over here and claim benifits get a house straight away because if you dont you class it as racist a white family have to wait months for one so dont say i make you laugh do something usefull and get lost
