Anyone got any ideas as to what I can get for my daughter's teacher and teaching assistant (both female) for Christmas. I'm sure they must get bucket loads of flowers, chocolates, mugs and pens and it would be nice to get something a little different for them.

Thanks for your help.

What about a manicure set or a keyring or a bit of costume jewelry. A dangly thing for a mobile phone, flowers, a plant, gloves, scarf or a candle.
I once bought gift wrapped oil burners which looked nice, now I usually buy wine in a nice bottle bag, I did once get a 3 for 2 offer on some sanctuary pamper gift sets in boots which went down well, not as well as the wine though!!

bottle of booze is a sure fire winner
What about a really nice, trendy mug to have their breaktime cuppa in?
What do you think they will be buying you?
I've dated a few teachers, and they all dunk heavily! So I'd go for the plonk
Nothing. Thought so.

Wine it is then - thanks for all your help. And the reality check from Lucy!

I'd much prefer you to tell me how pleased you are with the teaching your child has or the other reasons you think I need a present. I only give at the end of the year to my sons teachers. I always ask and although (as a non-drinking teacher) I wouldnt want wine thats what they've always said. I do give non-alcoholic too and send for the other adults who support him - its not just the class teacher who does the important work with your child, remember the lunch time supervisors too.
definately agree with other answers! I too am a primary school teacher and we all love to get a bottle of booze! even if its a minature one!!!! Other good pressies that have had are relaxing bath products - sanctury gifts are good you can get them from boots on 3 for 2. Hope it helps!!!!!
I agree with Lucy, but it seems to be tradition now, and also it is nice to show teachers that they are appreciated (if they are) I do also buy the teaching assistants. But I always buy 2 tins of sweets or biscuits (I admit usually on offer in September) 1 for the dinner ladies (in the kitchen) and 1 for the dinner nannies (lunchtime supervisors). Not many remember the hard 3 hour graft of the kitchen staff, my mam done it many years ago, and my kids have always taken something in for the kitchen staff, who are always very appreciative. Not that its the reason I do it, but my kids get good treatment from the ladies giving the food out! Some keep a portion of their favourite if its running out and they are late in the queue, and I don't know them from adam.
Oh and RosandJohn, I agree about the feedback, but I do that at parents evening anyway, and usually the gift card will say something to that effect.
some sort of pampering treat from body shop / lush etc so they can re-charge their batteries and recover from all the wine
Please no more mugs or smelly stuff!
I have heard that some charity shops do a special "For my teacher" card in return for a donation which is putting the good wishes to benefit someone else. Not sure which ones do it, but the idea can be adapted.
