Has anyone had problems trying to give the answers to the quiz on the phone? Questions are asked so quickly there is no time to think. We got in the first letter of the place name (having to refer to a question on the map) but could not find the last letter of the place name before the call was ended. We are sure we have the right answer but have already wasted �1.50 on that call. I expected them just to ask for the answer directly (as the DVD said) instead of having to refer to places on the map when insufficient time is given in which to answer and press the right buttons on the telephone. How are others doing?

hi i havent got that far yet, but was wondering if you can help me. ive got the first place castletown but cant find it on the map went on the net and it says its in scotland. does the place have to be printed on the map. also on one of the other places ive got skipesa but it dosent make sence, any ideas

Hi Tiggerlit

I think you will find Castletown is in the Isle of Man and Skipsea is on the coast close to Bridlington. All the places are printed on the map. Hope this helps!!!

Great! Answers are printed in black and white for people to just find on a map - and still they ask for help on AB!!! Unbelievable...

Hi Elspeth, Yes I too have had problems ringing in with the answer. It is very confusing when she starts going on about keying in the first and last letter using the alexander bell phonetic keys. She explains that you only have to key in the letter once, but what happens if your letter is either a middle or end letter on the telephone key pad. We spent many hours of fun and sheer exasperation then to not be entered into the draw when you feel you have the right answer. Good luck anyway

Thank you marklarr for your response. It seems from a previous post which I have just found that we are not alone in having problems - apart from one person who claims to have had no bother. I wish I knew his/her secret! Now we have to decide whether it is worth having another try, and possibly wasting more money, or forgetting about it. I have e-mailed the Daily Mail asking for their comments but am not holding my breath for a reply. It seems that they have found a nice little earner with this competition.

I had problems to so called them and they told me that the lady says (after entering the number of letters in the final location)
'Please now using your phone key pad in a similar way to the Alexandar Graham Bell puzzle, enter the first letter of the final location. For example, if you believe it to begin with the letter A B or C then press two once'
I made them read this out to me and now it is clear. You also just press the key once for the final letter. Not like texting. I entered no problem this time and she does clearly say press the key once. Hope this helps others to enter

Incidently, I noticed (belatedly) in the 'Help and Advice' section a warning not to try to use the DVD in a computer. I did use my computer and everything worked perfectly!

Well, This has been a really Strange one, a friend of mine rang his answer in on monday and he swore to me that he had to give his answers verbally, Unfortunately he had Newport on the isle of wight and so had the wrong place for the treasure. We like countless others no doubt were confused about using the "Bell telephone" bit and so hung up. I wonder how many people rang in twice. Enjoy the Mail and have won their �1500 Crossword but I feel this was a little bit naughty.

So does that mean I will be unable to enter this competition as I am deaf and unable to hear sufficiently on the telephone? I had intended to simply ring the number and leave answer and name and address details on the message machine, but now I see that wont work???

How do I enter then??? Aaaghhh after all that hard work!

Ironically, Bell only invented the telephone whilst trying to invent the hearing aid for his deaf wife! He never knew that technology and telephones would become the bane of deaf peoples lives!!
