This third week of the reign of Queen Jan of Many Titles began with perfect timing ~ which is not as easy as it sounds. The AB clock is often out of synch with any PC and adjustments need to be made. Nevertheless, I am pleased to reveal that Jan's chosen Link Words were:

GOOD Buy
Something ELSE
New MOON
Day CENTRE

This proved yet another lean week for points and the nature of this game was again "catch-up and consolidation" ~ rather than leaders pulling ahead.

There was an extremely brisk start by patchett this week, who came straight in with SOMETHING ELSE to pick up the first TWO POINTS. She was followed three minutes later by Jim and once again just failed to beat the clock for the same bonus point. Shortly after Jim came Grenmus with DAY CENTRE for the second link and LaneyB as Entrant #12 at 09.04 with a GOOD TRY to take the third link. Each of these pick up TWO POINTS apiece.

It so often happens that three of the links fall within the first dozen entrants, but no-one can put together a winning combination. In fact, SOMETHING ELSE proved a steady earner for several people, but it wasnt until half way through the afternoon before Eiggam came in with the elusive NEW MOON to claim the very last link.

In situations like this, I usually pick out the very last Linker and so it is Eiggam who I name as HOT SHOT OF THE WEEK.
*** CHEERS ALL ROUND ***

League Table (at this penultimate stage):

4 Points: evsajo & Jools
3 Points: country boy, dd47, Jim & JRB
2 Points: burgess, Dustybun, Eiggam, Elspeth, Grenmus, LaneyB, lysander, Magyar, miss meg, Murielmci & patchett
As many as 14 others are now on one point after this third round.

This was an interesting third themed game from Queen Jan the Unfathomable. Nearly half the field is bunched and the first person to put together two decent scores will take the November honours. There is still everything to play for!

Once more, this is crofter signing off for another week, dusting down his (yet- again hardly-used) abacus. With one week to go, I wouldnt like to pick a winner!

See you next week: Same time Same place

Until then: HAPPY LINKING

:o)
2nd attempt to post this sorry if it come up twice,
I would like to thank crofter for his adding up and general
help. I think many of your guesses were very goog in fact far better than I came up with.
I hope to provide better words and the links next week
as that will be my swan song
thanks
jan
Well I was rubbish!!!....and I thought I might have understood Jan!! ...just shows you!
Thanks Crofter and Jan!...I think! :-(
Well, if you're going to change the words on a Sunday - what chance do we stand? Good BUY!!!!

Congratulations to all the scorers - I'm really not on Queen Jan's wavelength.
Pauline, understand me?
Steve has known me 34 years and married to me for 32 and he STILL does not understand me
(he is a man though)
jan
Encore, nil points pour mois. A bientot, mes amis. Dormez bien!

I am well and truly confused!

How can the answer by good buy when the word was try?
Fox Lee said the word was changed on the Sunday - why? and where?

Sorry, I am fairly new at this but am now totally perplexed.
typo from crofter
the words were TRY SOMETHING NEW and DAY
the link was good TRY
did not realise the error
I am sure crofter has sorted the points correctly
jan
Wow!!!!

I'm "Hot Shot of the Week" At long last I must have cracked this game. Cheers everyone!
Bon jour tout le monde - et null points pour moi aussi !!

Thanks Jan and crofter for your sterling efforts.
No points for me again, but still clinging on to a joint lead. I will have to keep my eye on Jim though, he's creeping up on me. :-o

Apologies to all. The first Link was indeed GOOD TRY!
Nothing had been changed and all the marking was OK.
I was pushed for time when I made the typo.

:O(
Ah well! No points yet again! Congratulations to Queen Jan for keeping most of us guessing, and thanks to Crofter for keeping the scores.
Well the "all nighter" in the shrubbery did me no favours whatsoever, no points yet again. Thinks .. I must devise a more devilishly cunning plan next time!!

Thanks for the links I failed to see jan, and thanks once again crofter for the number crunching. ;O)
Murielmci - it was said tongue in cheek, of course it was just a typo.
I was truly confused!

I did not mean to cause trouble!

I accept I am rubbish but where is the difference there!
Oh dear! I see sarumite is going back into Baldrick mode again. Watch yourselves in the shrubbery next week everyone!

and dear crofter I am getting increasingly worried about your fixation for dusting things down!!!! :0)

Unfathomable !!! Yup, I'll pay that, she gets worse by the week or I do - not sure which !!! but I know I'm not scoring anything so must be me

Thanks all the same, Queen Jan & crofter for keeping us all on the right track
