Hi my son has been ill for 3 days with some sort of bug.
His tempature is now down but he hasn't eat in that time and isn't hungary.
Now keeps having the runs due to the fact no solid food eat i guess.
What can i give him to settle his stomach as doctors cant see him till tomorrow (what a great national health service when they wont see a sick 7 year old).
Any help
Thanks

trying getting a rehydration solution into him to prevent dehrydration.

Foodwise, banana and milk was a firm fave when i was a kiid and ill.

Dry toast may help too
Hey Petekeith,

Don't worry if your son won't eat at all. Just make sure that he gets lots of liquid.

I agree with redcrx rehydration solution would be best, or you can try boiling some water and disolving a little sugar and salt into it. More sugar than salt or he won't drink it! Make sure it's cooled right down - I know it's obvious but if I don't say it someone will comment lol.

And lots of love xx
Have you tried calling NHS direct? Once i found them very helpful but hte next time they were usless. Might be able to offer some advise

Hope he is better soon - nothing worse than feeling like you can't help them xx
A Doctor told me a short time ago that beleive it or not, the best thing for the runs is..... wait for it... Coke.
But they are not meant to reccomend it because of the sugar content.
I had forgotten that except it was lemonade i had been told about from a friends mum who was a nurse
Poor soul - there are so many of these bugs about just now. The recommended rehydration solution in the absence of the real thing is watered down lemonade - the water kills the fizz but leaves a pleasant lemony flavoured sugar water which should give him fluids and some energy from the sugar. You can try and tempt him with some favourites, what about custard or my son's favourite when he is unwell is instant mash potato. Another snack that goes down well, is a little bowl of dry cheerios to snack on or a packet of plain crisps. I wouldn't worry too much, it wont do him any harn to go without for a couple of days - he will know best whether he feels like eating or not and he feels like something unhealthy, you can worry about having a healthy diet when he is feeling better!
my son has just got over a bug and the only thing that settled his stomach was flat coke. the receptionist at the doctord told me to try it once before and it really does work. either pour some in a cup and leave it for while or shake the fizz out in the bottle
i was told to put sugar in it to take the fizz out quicker but i never tried that as coke has enough sugar anyway.

there is truth in drinking coke, someone once told me that pepsi settled your stomach as it contains pepsic acid, hence the name which they use in many different medicines (pepto bismol) for example. its worth a go
Hope he is well soon
