Disappearing email

Can anyone suggest why I lose email from my screen.It seems to be just wiped off as I move the cursor to go up to open it. I have a Toshiba Satellite Vista laptop and it is only four months old. I have never had this problem before. My Server is AOL and it uses IMAP for my email which is a little different. This is rather a big problem. Can anyone help.

look at the mouse (touchpad) properties
see if you have "taps" enabled (can't remember the exact wording)

basically the left mouse button finction can also be accessed by tapping the touchpad - switch it off (it drives me nuts)
