I have been having these hot sweats on and off for about 18 months. I am sure it is the menopause as I have all the other symptoms. I have been taking Menopace but it doesn't seem to be working. I am also taking Sage(which is also supposed to improve memory). Has anyone out there got any suggestions what I can take because I am desperate for just one night of uninterrupted sleep!!!!!!!!!! Please don't say HRT, I just don't fancy it and my GP is not keen on it either.

I took Evening Primrose capsules and they seemed to work a treat - you need to take them for at least a month before you notice any improvement.
I'm still taking them 8 years later as my doc said they're as good as taking cod liver oil but without the 'fishy burps'
i found evening primrose didn't do a thing for me. i took an all-in-one supplement made for menopausal women which contained all the stuff recommended - calcium, magnesium, flax seed oil, etc. nothing to rid of the hot flushes, i just learned to live with them and adjust the way i dressed to cope - no socks or tights, t-shirts and jumpers with a lowish neck, looser clothing generally. you could try the soya isoflavins which are natural things, and some ladies swear by them. i never did the hrt thing either, took me about 3-4 years to get rid of all the symptoms, but now life is great again!!! good luck.
Black cohosh is a great help. I went through the menopause at 29 but 25 years later I still get the night sweats occassionaly. Apparently, these can go on forever. Sorry.

Looks like I'll just have to let it run its natural course!
Next time I'm coming back as a man or a cat!
beejaybee's reccomendation is good. Black cohosh. I have found it to be very helpful.
My doctor recommended black cohosh, but with soy isoflavones, (available from Healthy Direct ). It really worked.
