I just wanted to share how proud i am of my fella. Last night he received a Commendation for Bravery for rescuing a mother and 3 children from a house fire.
Even the baby was impressed and started to kick as he accepted his award :)

andi, its got to be easier when with crew as well though purely because of job and how you deal with things.

The key is to not let your emotions get in the way. And you soon learn not to let them. Throughly recommend it 4get. Apart from the pants shifts. But the driving is one of best bits!! If I can manage it ( small, blonde, 5'4'' and tiny).. anyone can. We all have a little cry now and again when u get a bad job, but u get over it!! u have to! x

i think that that little cry you have every now and again is the result of what drives you. Paramedics are caring, they have to be!
our paramedic neighbour was the person called out when Mr Red found his dad dead at home. I cant imagine what wouldve happened had Mr Red not had such a wonderful person with him at that time.

U wouldn't! Its great fun. U just have to watch the old duffers in nissan micras and the pompus old men in big Jags who think they own the road!! You've just gotta remember that it takes a little more to stop a 5 tonne merc travelling at 70mph+!!! Good braking recommended!

Thats nice of you to say red. Thats my fave part of job. The people you meet, and that just for a few moments you can be there for someone. Don't get me wrong, my day is usually filled with moaning, all-weeing, all-pooing, all-vomiting whining whinging folk!! But those who appreciate what I do are by far my favourite patients!!

there is obviously something wonderful you get out of those few appreciative patients or you wouldnt do the job.
I admire anyone in a job like that, all emergency services and armed forced put theirselves out for the benefit of everyone in the country. It not just a job to you.

That is absolutely fantastic!!!! congrats to mr Red. Fire Brigade are my heros. Old Kent Road lot saved my life, and everytime I see the fire crews out collecting I give em 20 squid :D

My BiL is a paramedic, and I think the worst one is the one he tells me about where he had to pick up a 13 year olds body.... they'd been playing chicken on the Tolworth road....

beril, that must have been horrific for him, and such a terrible loss of life. So far Mr Red has been very very lucky and not directly attended any fatals.
I worry about him every time he rushes out to a call, even more so when i think of those poor firefighters that recently lost their lives.

Dangerous job hon.... alas the one I was in... they were attending fatality too. (at the coroners court we had to attend, the coroner had the pictures of her body taken out before we looked at the damage and what we'd survived)

BiL is as tough as old boots lol been doing the job years and SiL was sister in charge at a rough london hospital.
Shootings and stabbings the norm.

Once again huge congratulations to your man :D you must be bursting with pride :D xxx
