Bought brand new plasma tv, the quality of sound is very poor, it sounds like the volume is within a box,or tinny, theres no base to it. Has anybody else experienced this?

There was very little bass, which made both music and action scenes a little weak sounding -- we've heard far more dynamic sound from smaller 32-inch screens. The only saving grace is that the optical digital output does at least enable you to hook the TV up to an amplifier.

he acoustic ability of the LG 42PC55 is nothing more and nothing less than adequate. Lack of bass is the main problem, and as the majority of buyers will probably be upgrading the sound capability on this unit, it won't be a problem.

So you're not imagining it. If you are otherwise satisfied with the tv how about investing in a cinema surround sound set up?

I'm lead to believe this sound problem is fairly standard with all LCD and plasma screens, due to the lack of depth to provide sufficient room for a 'boom box'. Therefore most sound is tinny and, this is why you will find most dealers will try to sell a surround sound system as a package with the TV
