As an English girl living in england, if i have children with a polish husband, and we split up, is it possible for him to take them to poland. and if so would i be able to get them back?

Not unless he has custody. In fact, it would be illegal for him to do so under eu law. A very similar case has just been decided using EU law (the Hague Convention)involving a woman who took her twins to Britain without the father's consent. See here:
