Why do people asking for solutions.....

...assume that people answering have the puzzle in front of them, and therefore there is no need to give clues, word lengths or letters already known?

The original question by Rollo implied that the people who just give name and number of crossword along with name and number of clue, were assuming that everyone had crossword infront of them. But they don't assume that. They are directing their question to people who have already solved that particular crossword.

I think contributors should put the crossword, daye, clue and what letters they've got. I often trawl through contributions - sure, in search of an elusive answer - but spot someone else's query and offer a solution. That's what this site is all about, isn't it? Giving something back if someone else has helped me!
A week later, it would be good if at least we had, for example, dtgk, and the date and the number of the clue.
As others, I trawl through all the recently answered questions, and always finish up with answers that I haven't already got.
