Why do JW's refuse Blood transfusions? Is it also true that they will refuse resucitation?
I ask NOT to knock the strength of their beliefs...I am just curious as to why? Do they trace it back o a biblical reference?
Thanks

Thanks Cazzz that link is interesting!
The bible references they use to back up their theory are all old testament books so.... i wonder why they are then allowed to eat pork? Cos that is also strictly forbidden in the old testament?
Hmmm - next time i get a JW knock on my door i might have to ask em in to explain and sort out my curiosity.

My late father in law would always answer the door to any religious caller. He would let them chatter a bit then interrupt;
'Do you know the bible inside and out?'
They would usually answer along the lines of 'No sir. I have studied it for years and I still dont know it'
'Well come back when you do. Goodbye'

I answered the door to some JW once and I told them i was not intested and said anyway you would never accept me anyway because ive already had 3 bood transfusions and possibly need a heart transplant in the future!! They turned around and said that God would forgive me!! LOL Just what do i need forgiveness for???? Apparently transfusions and transplants are forbidden because the blood we have been gicen is sacred to us and should not be shared out!! But doesnt it state in the bible that we are all of ONE blood, who cares who has which bit!!!
I have loads of time for JW, mormons, etc. If they knock on my door I welcome them in and chat for hours (at least partly because one of them was very very tasty). I like to think that I have a better knowledge of biblical matters than most of them, and we debated for hours at a time. It is only when we reach the point that I compel them to condemn a translation such as J.B. Phillips as apostate that we have to part company. And all that fuss over John 1:1 - I really can't see the problem with it either their way or the traditional - how on Earth can a father and son be in existence together from eternity - where is the begetting process in all this ? Either way it is rather tedious doctrine and detracts from more crucial issues.
JW and mormons are very nice people, I'd rather meet a group of them in a dark alley at night than most other people.
