Why are there never enough chairs? Someone always has to sit on a stool or a nest of tables

yes and always enough of them rev just have to mind the spiky bits as they sometimes catch on my dungarees

It's not a problem these last 2 years as there aren't the relatives still , but , when there was , we used to have to use stools and a small table and arm-of-chair perches , plus my brother used to bring an extra dining chair in his car from his house . :-) xxx

Our family is so big that we all have to take it in turns to sit outside in the shed.

I once sat on a card table and broke it.

There were 10 of us kids, plus ma & pa and usually a few elderly relatives for Xmas dinner. We used deck chairs (so your nose was level with the table), tea chests, bar stools borrowed from the pub down the road and on one occasion a dolls house!
