do i pay income tax when im on half pay at work as i am signed off if i do can u tell me if it is less than normal

You pay income tax on income over your yearly allowance. When you are on half pay you will still get tax deducted.

At the end fo the tax year, it gets recalculated, and the tax man coughs up a cheque if you have paid too much. If you think you're paying too much, ring the tax man and discuss  a change in the tax code. You dont stop paying tax just because you are ill for example.
