hi all im pretty nifty at building computers(pc's) and i would like to start a career in the IT industry, maybe as a technician can anyone give me some advice on what might be suitable? thx

Sign up for as many IT related job websites as you can, pass your driving test, don't get into debt or get a criminal record, don't just stick to hardware, learn Windows XP/Vista inside out, read up on Microsoft Exchange/Lotus Notes.
Linux/Unix and Cisco knowledge are useful.

Get your CV out there.

IT job websites - jobserve.com , jobsite.co.uk, also register with agencies - reed.co.uk, and consider contract work, any thing to get a foot in the door.

Contact large telecommunications companies, e.g BT

Persevere.
