When did Billy Gibbons change from Heavy Gauge strings to light (.008s-.040)? His 59 Les Paul "Pearly gates" used to be strung with heavy guage. At some point he changed to really light gauge strings . I dont seem to be able to google when - only that he did.

Thanks for the intelligent answers - I was concerned some pratts would reply and say something really dumb.
I'm not sure, but I'd say sometime around the Eliminator album. The band definitely moved from a heavy blues sound to a more mainstream rock, and the guitar sound is definitely different.
