Hi im looking into going to chester university next year to study business and film but bit confused by it all. For my Alevels I got a B in film, a C in general studies and a D in english, along with a D in french and an E in german for my AS levels. The chester website states that the entry requirements are:

A minimum of 240 UCAS points, of which 200 points must be obtained from GCE A Levels, including a grade C in one subject. The remaining points may be achieved from GCE AS Levels, or from Level 3 Key Skills.

Can my general studies A level be included in the 200 points? As I have 240 points from A levels and 290 when including my As levels. I keep hearing how many universities just wont accept general studies nowadays. Many thanks x

you can find out the points system on ucas.com, but bascially what its telling you it that 200 of the points have to be made up from your a level results but the other 40 from as or others. genreal studies is becoming a bit of a grey area now, but its best to send an email to chester and check.
i've just gone through the whole ucas system myself so im talking from experience. good luck!
Whether or not you can count General Studies is down to the individual university. Most seem to dismiss it.
