how can i tell my mate he stinks constantly, im not talking "fresh sweat" here this is old sweat its getting the rest of us down.

peachy - Do you both drink? If you do, invite him out for a drink, just you two. Unfortunately, there isn't an easy way around it. I think if you invite him for a drink, maybe just as you are ready to go home after, tell him. Say, listen mate, I don't want to offend you, I'm telling you cause I'm a friend, you have some body odour. Don't joke or laugh when you say it though!!!! Hopefully, the drink will soften what you have said to him & he's awkwardness. xxx

Unless this is a medical condition that makes him smell regardless of how clean and fresh he is, you will just have to tell him.

There is no easy way. Tell him you enjoy his company, value his friendship and so on but you will not spend any more time with him until he gets his personal hygiene sorted out.

We have got the same problem with someone that i work with but we all took the cowards way out and got the master key to his locker and left some smellies, all nicely wrapped in christmas paper. He know likes he has an admirer and has started using the smellies so at least t worked.

yes agreed with above , now is the time for Christmas prezzy's , they don't have to be expensive , a can of smelly off all his friends all wrapped up individually .... , he will get the message .....

I work with someone who has a personal hygiene problem and I only really noticed it recently when we were working in close proximity. I think the idea of the smellies for Christmas is only going to work if they use them. My colleague is female and probably has bathroom cabinets full of the stuff. My boss would die of embarassment rather than speak to her about it too. Its a difficult one.

oh perhaps you could christmas wrap up a few wash tablets for there clothes as well... after all its no use being clean and smelling fresh if your clothes are smelling bad,
