Am I right in thinking that a married couple who have both paid full NI contributions individually, all their working lives, will get a combined pension that is less than for two individuals who are not married?

No they will get individual pensions the same as if they were single.

Thanks Leftylottie - Does that mean that the married couples pension is for someone who has a spouse who has not contributed?
