I have just spoken to my friend, who took delivery of a new three piece leather suite from DFS. The delivery men told her not to sit on the furniture for 24hours. I have been killing myself laughing as she is sitting on the floor!!!! I told her to ignore them, as the suite would have been in a warehouse with nobody sitting on them, so what is the problem????
Furniture needs to ' settle in ' it's a known feature in the trade. You can't just junk off a leather settee and expect it to be sittable upon. Advise your friend that she is a complete ar$ehead. Sorry I couldn't help earlier but I only just got in from work and besides you didn't ask your question until nearly 7pm.
It doesn't sound right to me. I don't see what difference it would make whether she sat on it tonight or not. It's designed for sitting on. Sounds like the delivery guy was being funny.
That's where you are wrong !! Furniture needs to settle in in the same way as a hamster, it needs to adjust to the prevailing temperature and humidity (T&H in the trade).
When our suite came from DFS recently, it rocked. I'm told it is not uncommon for some slight frame twisting to happen. Ever the sceptic I said 'yeah right'. But they sent a man around who did some chiropractic work on it and its been fine since.
We have just bought a leather suite , made in England , the same one in Harveys , was an import and more expensive .
So use your local shop and haggle . We had a really deal .
