Want to buy a windows laptop but don't know where to start?

- It's for home (where I work from now and then on days off) so will need word/excel
- Its got to be fairly fast
- it got to be idiot proof, and not require too many upgrades and setting changes etc (low mantenance)
- plenty of usb conections etc and places to plug digital camera and camcorder in.
- bluetooth
- I have a mac as well and plan to get a hdd camcorder soon so something that would go well a mac/window hhd camcorder
-dvd rewriter

don't know if there would be anything else, I want a windows one because I have window compatible stuff coming a xmas.

Do you have to buy word/excel separate?
Do companies have laptop & hdd camcorder 'deals' so I could buy both together for a good price?

Is this for the drum kit, etc.?

If you have an intel mac, you could use Leopard to run Boot Camp, and use your mac to run Windows.

yes it is for the drum kit, yes I had heard something about boot camp..what ever that is, but I need to know more on this...being a bit of a dumb ass maybe I should start by finding out what type of mac I have and what it is running and then come back to you, is there a online source for information on this 'boot camp' subject preferabley in laymans terms???

Word/excel etc are part of the microsoft office suite and yes, are separate. You can have your supplier fit them but it's usually much more expensive. You could use a free prog like openoffice, or stick with the crappy Microsoft Works that will come with your pc

Click the apple logo at the top-left of your screen, and then click "about this mac". Let us know what is says for the processor and memory, as well as what version (10.x.x).

OK. Your computer isn't able to run windows.

So, if you do want to run it, buy yourself a cheap additional computer. Just look round places like Dell, or ebuyer.com for laptops.
