Does anyone know whether it is possible and, if so, how could I be put on a list of people who are invited to advance screenings of upcoming movies? Thanks in advance

Because of this, members of the public will find it impossible to be included on the invitation lists. If it's any consolatation - most previews are shown in the mornings or early afternoons in small cramped Soho viewing theatres, so you may not be available at those times anyway.
I've been to many free 'preview' screenings which can be shown anything from a couple of days before the film appears on general release to many months before. I went to one test screening where I had to fill out a questionnaire afterwards rating the plot/ending, etc. althought I didn't see the film again when it came out some months later so I don't know if they made any changes. I get the tickets from a few different sources - mostly film magazines like Empire, my local paper (Manchester Evening News - it's a local paper for local people!) and the Firstmovies website (www.firstmovies.com). For the test screening I just got picked up off the street so don't be too quick to rush past those people with clipboards!
There are several websites which offer free screenings. First Movies is one, The Film Factory another (http://www.thefilmfactory.co.uk/).
There's also The Movie Club, which can be accessed through MSN (http://movieclub.msn.co.uk/)
or Tiscali (http://movieclub.tiscali.co.uk/).
There is a membership fee for this one, but it does offer other perks, such as free video rentals. I especially like the fact that these screenings have no adverts or trailers!
