Must agree with Sparkie , you have not lived until you have had pie , mash and liquor , the liquor is lovely .Normally you have 2 pies and loads of mash potatoes with the liquor over the top , now feeling hungry !!!!!

Hello hellie, the" Liquor" bit is a parsley sauce, but not just some ordinary one you would whip up in the kitchen it is magic, and as theonlyone says two pies, mash and pour the "magic sauce over the lot cover it in vinegar and wallop, knock ya bandy girl I ain't kiddin ya either, it is brilliant, but you got to eat it with a spoon and fork, so it is a rare skill us southern softies have got off to a tee, finish it off with some pease pudding and faggots if you want ,or some jellied eels, christ I am starving now, get it down your neck hellie, lol,

Sparkie is the liquor made with the water that the eels are cooked in ?but lovely grub !!!

I honestly don't know theonlyone, but my wife reckons it probably is, because I have never tasted parsley sauce like the one you get with pie and mash anywhere else, and I agree 100% it is lovely grub, we have it sent up from manzes by courier, there online service is brilliant, so if you don't live in London, give it a try, we moved out years ago and it was the one thing we missed apart from the footie.

There used to be a Pie & Mash shop at the Elephant and Castle , can't think what its name was ? I'm sure the eel water is used for the liquor , but I love jellied eels , we can buy them in the local fishmonger also rollmops . To all you Abers reading this post , don't knock it until you try a different regional food .

my ex hubby's aunt used to go on about the pie and mash shop at the elephant and castle and the arterial, that is a road apparently, they were from Limehouse
