How can i help my 2yr old, extremely nervous dog (vizsla), to make friends with my new kitten?

With luck, you'll find the kitten does it for you.  Once it settles it will probably wear the dog down into acceptance by playing with its tail etc!  Also, if you can have the kitten on your knee and at the same time feed the dog with some titbit that it can't resist, that might help.  We've been through this more than once and, given a few weeks, the situation resolves itself.

And they will probably end up sleeping in the same basket curled up together.  This has often happened in with our cats and dogs over the years!
