Basic Drill bit/ Rawlplug sizes information

I am attempting to fit a wall mounted coat hanger to a just decorated interior wal in the hall.

I am very much a novice at DIY.

The fixing screws fit a Size 8 Plasplug All-in-One Fixing

What size masonry drill do I use to make the hole in the wall?

Do I use the size below 6.5 ?

There is normally a size written on either the plasplug or the plastic rail they are attached too.

failing that make a small hole and keep increasing it very slightly until it fits

if its a size 8 plug it will take a size 6 screw
therefore a 8mm drill,

If the screw is a size 8. then the drill would be a 10mm

check the diameter of the plug to the diameter of the drill, they should look the same

Rawl plugs are colour coded, You would nead a 6.5 bit for a brown plug which will take a screw size from an 8(imperial) 4mm metric up to a 10(imperial) 5mm(metric.
