How do I get a laptop onto the internet

My pc is on aol broadband and I now want to connect my laptop to the internet.What do I need to do in easy steps please?We do not have wireless yet

do you have an ethernet cable? (POSSIBLY A YELLOW ONE)

connect an ethernet cable (any colour will do it!) from the router to the ethernet port on your laptop :D

You need a router. If you buy a wireless one you can connect to the internet from anywhere in the house on your laptop.
