My sons scared of alot of things...
My son is two years &8 months. He is a lovely little thing but he is scared of lots of things. He really shakes and he can't look at things and of course screams. Examples.....a pencil sharpner? vacuum cleaner, cinema, dog...... These are a few i can think of off the top of my head. I'm not sure if he's playing up but i do think he's too young to do that yet. Is it normal? Is there anything i can do to make him feel more confident. I hope with all my heart he feels safe and secure.

Not sure of the reason. There was nothing we could do except reassure and comfort him. But now, at age 4, he's not bothered by them at all. Hopefully it's just a phase with your son too and he will get over it in time.
My neice is nearly four now, but about 6 months ago we were playing a music DVD and she just began screaming and crying and held round my neck so tight - she was terrified! It was the start of a song was a drum beat which sounded sort of like a heart beat, very soft tap tap tap, she'd never heard it before! It scared her senseless, she's fine now though.
I am very much with woofgang.. call your son's pediatrician and tell him your story. Autistic children scream and seem scared of the least little thing, especially if it is different or there is a change in their normal routine. Don't want to be an alarmist, but that's the first thing that came to my mind.
I would defo take your son to your gp.I dont want to alarm you but our son had phobias at about the same age, esecially the old number 4 logo on channel 4,he would be hysterical but would'nt say why! Our gp had him assessed over a 6 week period and through that he was diagnosed as having Asperger Syndrome. He's 19 now and in college doing an IT course but Im so glad we made the decision to take him to the doctor!
