some of the lines went as follows:

I can't tell a wadi from a pond,but there is a wadi to which i can respond.

I think it was Holsten Lager with Neil Innes in the ads

I also thought it was holstens but i have e-mailed them both here and in germany and they can't recall it.

I thought it was Holsten Export. There is one with Neil Innes at a piano, set in the jungle and also one of him at a piano sitting on the moon with a dog, both are wearing space helmets. If you search for Holsten Export under google images, there is a picture of the jungle ad, but when you try to open it, it tells to that it can't find the website. Have a look and see if it rings any bells.
