didnt know where to put this question...

i watched this interview this morning on my break at work about wind power. one of the key points they were making is the fact that people dont want massive structures in the middle of fields spoiling the landscape. especially since they need so so so many to produce enough energy to be worth while. why is this? is everybody that hypocritical? "save the world from certain doom without non-renewable fuel, oh but dont ruin the landscape."

i should imagine in jolly ol' britain most of the problems are red tape - even if no one admits that! but if "saving the world" via clean energy is a real thing, why arent they just built, end of?

we should encourage France to build a few more newclear power stations

then import on the national grid
I live in the country with lovely unspoilt views.

I want it kept that way.

What we need are more fossil fuelled power stations to increase carbon emissions to bring on global warming.

It is bl00dy freezing this morning with snow everywhere.

Unfortunately nobody wants powerstations of any type built near them.

So whether it's wind, Gas, nuclear or anything the same scenario happens

Proposals - objections - consultation - imposition - resignation.

Like you say they will be built it's just the local residents have to be given a chance to make their case to preserve the illusion of democracy
i can see 2 turbines from my office window and 7 from the back of the company and I live in thecountry.

I dont mind the look of them at all. What i do have a problem with is the fact that once we had 2 then the local district council passed planning for the further 7 and is now looking at another 6. This town is only small and has 6000 residents. I think we have done our fair share of supplying renewable energy considering the possible usage of our town and yet the largest town in the disctrict, where all the industry and jobs are is refusing to allow planning for even 1 turbine. I wonder if theres a connection between that and the fact the the District Council has its offices there? hmmmm
The issue is that they are more of a nod to conservation than any real solution. I think that the people who object to having them all over the countryside are the same people who appreciate that we need more renewable sources of energy. I was in Holland last year and they had millions of them in the industrial areas and docks, where they dont stand out so much.

I dont have a problem with doing the same here. Why spoil the countryside for generations for very little benefit?

I think that a better solution would be for building regulations to stipulate that new houses have to be fitted with solar panels and each house estate has to have a wind turbine. Industrial estates would need to have a proportion of renewable energy provided as well.

It is housing developers that have inflated house prices unnaturally and it is about time that they put somthing back into the communities that they are creating.
Hey Danny,

The problem is that no one wants anything in 'their' backyard, whether it be power stations, wind farms, travellers etc.

I love the wind farms I think they are really attractive but apparently they are not worth their weight in anything least of all gold.

they are testing masive wind turbines out at sea at the present. they are 450 feet high(300ft above water) and have 3 x 200ft blades. there is plans to build 200 of them in the north sea
