Haunted tunnels / haunted castles

Anyone know of any "haunted" (allegedly) tunnels in kent or East sussex? Or really haunted castles.

My stepson is over in uk on holiday and loved the Wartime tunnels at dover...but looking for othe similar things.

Try Chislehurst caves. From what I remember they were first built in the Roman times or maybe even before that.

Hever Castle? Anne Boleyn apparently haunts there.

Hever is beautiful and the gardens are lovely during the summer. I've been there a couple of times. Have a nice time if you go x

Hastings has smugler's caves in the cliff which you get to by an old cliff lift behind some of the Amusment arcades on the front .

A few spooky bits in there and good ol' stories of ghosts int he caves . Not bad .

Thanks kujawski - that's a great site. Pity alot of them are private property but the others are worth a look into.

Tried Fort Amherst today - but was closed...ne'er mind now we have other options thanks to the site AB'ers sent.

Interesting your stepsons reaction to the wartime tunnels at Dover. I went there in the summer and did the guided tour thang.

I cringed when the 'actors' popped out of a wall and did the doctor and the injured Spitfire pilot routine. When they burst into a rendition of 'It's a Long Way To Tipperary' I wanted to leave but was informed I had to stay with the group.

Potentially a very good tourist attraction but so badly done

Sounds like ur expeierence wasn't as good seafarer.

Pity. Although each time I've been (around 8 times) there's never been "actors" or holographs or songs...just one guide and yes, some background music, noises, smells etc.

Also took my mum in law there a few years back. She was worked in the telephone exchange in london during the war (where there was another secret undeground bunker for communications and telecoms) anyway - she found it so realisitic and in fact got a bit emotional at some of the memories teh dover tunnels bought back.

But like anything it just goes to show it's not everyone's cup a tea :-)

Not quite the Haunted type ...but The Churchill Cabinet Rooms Bunker in London is quite extensive if you like the wartime theme . Also the Museum there is most extensive .
