Hello, assuming you have seen it - if not and don't want spoilers don't read on! I have seen and really liked it, but then i like MM's stuff. Having said I felt that this one was a bit biased - only towards the end when he was trying to get congressmen's children to sign up for the war. The soldiers that are in iraq weren't sent there by there parents or joined the army because they're parents made them - they CHOSE to, often becuase the army is the best career to have like in Flint. So i thought that was a bit silly - no person would CHOOSE to send their child to war. secondly i thought that MM must have been rubbing his hands with glee when that woman's son died - one minute he had her bleating on about how great the american army was then the next she's bawling that her son's died and he didn't even know why they were there. It was a very emotive film and truly shocking some of the things that were revealed - particularly the stuff about the company to profit from 9/11 was one owned by bush and the bin ladens etc plus the relationship between the two, having said that i'm not sure how much of it is strictly true. my favourite bit is the beginning where he says "but instead President Bush just kept reading Billy the Goat to the children" or whatever it is - hilarious. I also think it's a shame he relied on the use of hysterical women whose homes have been bombed - they will always blame amercians and/or the west because that's what the propaganda machines in these countries are telling them. I will be watching more of MM's work - assuming Bush gets re-elected, what will he do if Kerry gets in?? What did you think?

I haven't seen Fahrenheit 911 yet, but I have seen Bowling For Columbine. I feel that MM has his views and opinions which he wants to convey through his films, and does so very sucessfully. However, It is only his side of the story, and he makes no attempt to show it from any other perspective.

I will be watching Fahrenheit 911 very shortly, and I am looking forward to it too, but I will not take everything I see as the whole truth.

A good film but inherantly biased........my advise would be to view the film then trawl the web for the many rebuttals of the acusations ( http://politics.slate.msn.com/id/2102723/ is fairly evenhanded and will get you started) then decide where in the middle you think the truth (if such a concept still exists in these situations) lies.

An interesting man with some interesting points and opinions........and man, has he got a lot of opinions. take a look at www.moorewatch.com and www.bowlingfortruth.com for alternative looks at Moore's views on society. I also think there is a book called 'Michael Moore is a Stupid White Man' which might be worth a gander too. I like F 911, but there is something about him that really pi$$es me off and I'm not sure what it is.....

I'd have to make the point that in a larger socio-economic framework we KNOW where our soldiers will come from-poor people-let them die for us and tell their parents/loved ones/ children they were salaried/waged to take that risk doesn't really detract from the points made. My son is nearly 8 and displays a military bearing I'd expect from a prospective West Point applicant.  I'd say the army may be for him-fighting a war for Haliburton, probably not.  Many people, despite the surface logic, choose to send their children to war.  Most don't do it for pointless reasons.  Most believe militaristic notions of RIGHT and heroism REALLY exist-not just as cynical, old warhorses to be exploited by cynical old draft dodgers at election time.

I have seen all of Moore's films including Fahrenheit 9/11. I am a moderate Democrat, a blogger and a Kerry supporter.

I found every one of Moore's films powerful and well made. However, I do not agree with everything he says, and in every movie, he does go a bit overboard with the Liberal rhetoric.

However, the Slate article linked earlier and the two anti-Moore sites linked are filled with only right wing personal attacks, unsubstantiated accusations and lies. They exist solely, due to the fear of Bush apologists of how powerful the truth can be. I encourage you to visit those sites and take note of how much of what is actually in the film, is proven wrong or even mentioned.
