well yes, but you would put most of it on just as quickly. why is everyone so ******* obsessed about losing weight quickly. yes, it takes a bit of effort. yes, it takes a bit of time. but then, if you are willing to give neither then stay as a fatty.

it would be incredibly bad for you by the way.

well thats utter rubbish you fool. no wonder we have a nation of people unable to manage their weight. you will not lose 20lbs of fat in 30 days. it is fairly easy to lose, correct, with a little determination, but not in that time frame. as for the atkins diet, personally I think its a crock of ****, carbs are one of teh basic food groups. most of the effect is based around water loss and the increased feeling of fullness we get from digesting protein.

its 90% calorific intake that determines such things.

Hmmm, I reckon you could lose 14lbs in a month, but most of that would be water, and you will gain it back straightaway, as soon as you go back to eating normally. Best thing is to eat smaller meals, loads of fruit and veg, NO snacking in between, and start exercising. The exercise will make you feel ten times better than starving yourself will, and this will give you the kick you need for 20 days time.
Most doctors and weight loss experts recommend losing no more than 2 pounds per week.

how did they get it wrong allen? I think if you delved deeper into your diet you would have found that simply by eliminating carbs and decreasing hunger needs from increaed protein intake your overall calorie intake was reduced. Did you try simple calorie reduction? 'oh I did but it didn't work' - sure.

The benefits you describe are endemic to simple weight loss, not following the atkins diet. I suspect from your previous weight and ill health you were a horrendously unhealthy eater who found the atkins diet the easiet way to understand how to lose fat.

I don't agree with Atkins either...ok, it works in the short term, but do you really want to eat like that forever and smell of shi* all the time (not to mention what it can do to your insides)? If you're going to diet, do it properly. All 5 food groups, but less fat. Lots of protein and vitamins, and watch the calories! Just eat less and exercise more...it's hard, but if you really want it to happen, you can do it.
I've done it again0 answered without reading all the answers so now I seem insensitive...I disagree with Atkins because my stepbrother did it, lost loads of weight very quickly, but then put it back on just as quickly when he went back to eating 'normally'. I just don't think it's something you should sustain for life- eat your greens!
