Going to Amsterdam for a few days in the new year and although we've been before, we're wondering whether they have a smoking ban like us now? Husband smokes and likes to know before he goes, where he's allowed to have a cigarette. Not interested in the whacky smoking by the way!

Thanks

However, at the bottomof my link it says "Copyright 1999-2007" which suggests that it is more recent than In A Pickle's link which is dated October 2003.

Thanks both, I think they are much like us but with the odd exception and slighly less rigorous enforcement.
Just a point: BEWARE of anything inapiddle directs you to. He usually turns out to be 50years out of date.

I've been and come back now, but for anyone reading this the rules are quite varied there. Or at least the interpretation of them is quite varied!

As of January 5th (post 1st Jan rule change) there is no smoking in public buildings like airports and museums, but many restaurants, bars and cafes continue to allow smoking without any restrictions. Its quite a good balance allowing non smokers to find smoke free places quite easily and smokers to find the thick fog they thrive on!

Great city, we enjoyed it a lot.

I think the Dutch are very sensible!
