Shutting down computer
Recently when I'm shutting down the computer I get the following message - "Other people are logged on to this computer, shutting it down will cause important data to be lost." Is this something to worry about?
Thanks for your help.

If you do then maybe when a new person comes to use it and someone is already logged on they just do "switch user" which leaves the other person logged on.
When you come to log off the other person may be still logged on.
I think you can also get this message when you share a computer broadband connection with 2 or 3 computers in the same house.
Maybe you have a folder on YOUR PC that is shared ?
If another user in your house is logged to their PC and has access to this shared folder then I think windows treats this as another user logged on to your PC.
If neither of those cases applies to your PC then I am not sure why you are getting that message.

I think I can explain the situation.
If I am correct, then if you shut down immediately you finish your work, it should shut down without the message.
If you leave your computer until the standby/screensaver mode cuts in, and then you choose shutdown, you will get the message you describe. The person still logged on is you. For safety, the system assumes that when it is in standby, you have left your computer and the person who woke it up could be anyone - hence the message.
