This happens on my iBook too. Fornmatted text reverts to Times NR. I've wasted hours trying to overcome it, and have put it down to Bill Gates. You just become adept at using format painter or shortcut copy format- paste format if you are pasting into a document where you want the new text to match what you already have.

Blimey.. yeah i've spent ages trying to fix it too.. at least I know I'm not alone. Its not a huge problem of course, but it just wastes so much time. Very irritating. What is is the format painter then? Thanks...
You'll find the format painter if you go to customise your toolbars - it looks like a little paint brush. You highlight the fomat you want to copy, hit the paintbrush icon, then paint over the text you want to fomat. Alternatively, highlight the formatted text you want to replicate, press apple-shift together, then hit C. Then highlight the text you want to format, press Apple-shift again, and hit V. Hey presto!
