John Peel dead

John Peel has died of a heart attack in Peru. I think this is a real shame as all my earliest music memories involve his radio program. He was a nice man and i for one will miss his soothing voice across the airwaves.

For once i didnt listen to the radio all morning then when i put it on a couldnt believe it he was so great i think his voice was so lovely!! he was a very intelligant man and will be greatly missed!!

I was so very, very sad when I heard this.  He was a wonderful man and a legend in his time, yet remained truly humble.    A very great loss.

I agree with fakeplastic, John Peel was a legend and such a humble man, such a shame that there's very few people like him these days, although because he was so humble, i guess his death wont get much attention, sadly.

Yes, a true gentleman - great to work with by all accounts. Stood out like a star in a business full of rather dim lights.
