What happened at the end? I videoed this but it ran out of tape just as Bitsey received the video tape at her office

he didnt do it but was executed to raise attention to the cause. the reporter ( woman) discovers this but cannot get to the jail in time

She actually killed herself. The video tape showed the whole thing, as she & Spacey planned the whole thing together. She had discovered she was dying & didn't want a long drawn out death. At the same time their plan would prove their point about innocent people being hanged.

So she arranged for Spacey to film her handcuffing herself & putting a plastic bag over her head. She then lay on the floor & suffocated. Even the guy who posted the tape to Winslett was in on it.

Winslett saw the tape, rushed to the prison, but it was too late, he had already been hanged.

Amazing twist & well worth seeing again if you get the chance. I've watched it about 4 times.
