my male? bird has laid an egg???

I own a 2 year old hans macaw and we was told by the breader the it was a male, but we just found out that its a female because she has just laid an egg, but has not be in contact with any other birds, does anyone no of the reason after nearly two years of owning him/her why this has happend?

If she has laid it in the corner of the cage just leave it, she may lay another and sit on it/them for a couple of days. Be a bit careful of with her for the moment as she may be a bit aggressive.

Its a girl, she may lay another soon or it may never happen again. If she starts laying more and more then you need to get some help from an expert and find out why she is doing it. Give her a bit more calcium in her diet for the time being.
My friends mum has macaws and they started breeding years ago, at a guess when they were about 6 cos they are over 30 now. Maybe your bird is just starting to mature sexually but I do know that as the years go on, captive birds can over produce eggs and thats a bad thing......apparently.
